I'm just helping an old friend, so my memory on this is short....

I checked some of the other signatures that are working and they are all
*OVL. I also printed one on QSYSPRT and it's just a signature. I thought
maybe it was the whole form or something.

There is only one place to view the overalys on the spool file. I know the
other ones are working though...

I'll check spool writer logs. I don't think there is an authority problem.

As I think about it...

Your signatures are set up as overlays? Are you sure about that?

I'd expect a signature to be a page segment. An overlay is usually
the boxes and lines of a form itself, while page segments are used for
variables like signatures or logos. AFAIK, you can only have one
overlay per page, while you can have multiple page segments.

This has been working well for several years.  We needed to create some
new
signatures, so I followed the steps I always do.  Create the jpg, print to
the AFP 300 printer driver (specify medium overlay), put the file in QDLS,
then do the Create OVL

Like this:

CPYFRMPCD  FROMFLR(&FLR) TOFILE(QTEMP/WORKF) +

            FROMDOC(&FILE) +

            TRNTBL(*NONE) TRNFMT(*NOTEXT)

CRTOVL     OVL(&LIB/&OVL) FILE(QTEMP/WORKF) MBR(WORKF)

The overlay prints on a test form.  BUT I can't get it to print in our
application.

Here is the DDS

A          R SIGN                      OVERLAY(&LIB/&OVLS &POSD &POSA)

A            LIB           10A  P

A            OVLS           8A  P

A            POSD           5S 3P

A            POSA           5S 3P

I've confirmed via debug all of these field values are correct.   I don't
mess with overlays much.    Has anyone seen anything like this before?

Jack
