Hi:

It is not necessarily always a "good idea" to just type "14" and press Enter. Where will the compiled *PGM be created? (Answer: "It depends.")

You should first press F18=User Defaults, and I recommend:

Change Defaults
Type choices, press Enter.
Object library . . . . . . . *CURLIB Name, *CURLIB, *SRCLIB Replace object . . . . . . . Y Y=Yes, N=No Compile in batch . . . . . . Y Y=Yes, N=No Run in batch . . . . . . . . Y Y=Yes, N=No Save session defaults . . . Y Y=Yes, N=No Save/Restore option . . . . 2 1=Single, 2=All Job description . . . . . . QBATCH Name, *USRPRF, F4 for list Library . . . . . . . . . *LIBL Name, *CURLIB, *LIBL Change type and text . . . . Y Y=Yes, N=No Option file . . . . . . . . QAUOOPT Name Library . . . . . . . . . *CURLIB Name, *CURLIB, *LIBL Member . . . . . . . . . . . QAUOOPT Name Full screen mode . . . . . . N Y=Yes, N=No

More...
F3=Exit F4=Prompt F5=Refresh F12=Cancel
I recommend that each developer should have their own "private" work library as the default "current library" for the user profile. That way, whenever you create any objects using PDM, they will always be created in your own "private workspace" (or "sandbox") library.

Also, when you type option 14, press F4=Prompt, rather than Enter, and then press F10=Additional parameters, so that way, you can learn what the various parameter defaults and options are available for each command.

All the best,

Being a newbie to the Power System I'm trying to complie a RPG program
and the instructions say it can
compiled directly with PDM option 14, no prompting necessary.
I go to the MAIN and select option 5 Programming which takes me to
option 2 Programming Development Manager, but not option 14.
Where can I find this PDM option 14 or maybe a better way to do this?
Please help me before I go crazy. :)
