I have had the issue you describe with /36 menus. If I compile/create it in a project/development library, simply copying the objects to production does not work.

I have not done many "native" menus using STRSDA. I use UIM to create menus because it actually allows me to use all 99 of the menu options (not that I've ever overloaded one that badly!). With STRSDA you may have 99 menu options, but you are still limited to a single panel. Anyway, I have never had an issue creating a UIM menu in a project library and then simply copying the *Menu object to production. The only thing I hate about UIM, which Vern and I have discussed here before, is that there is no graphical interface tool, such as STRSDA or, even, STRRLU (yuk).

Subject: RE: How to compile a menu?

Hi,

Now if you'd already modified that menu with SDA in a development library, how do you get it to compile with a program when you install it?

It's one thing our <CMS> doesn't manage : we just send a message reminding to execute SDA on the new menu source so that all the objects get created properly.

I believe you should not directly edit the MSGF - you change
that in SDA with one of the function keys - where you specify
the command to be executed by each option.

Not that I haven't done that ;-) but you should not have to.

Hello, I have to make a change to an AS/400 menu, but not
sure how to compile it. Made the changes to the DDS through
SDA, and there is a message file I changed also to show my new option.

Current objects are a *MSGF, *MENU and *FILE. I have been
told if you compile the menu all three objects are created?

Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.
