Is anyone aware of a quick way to determine if a printer is active ? I
need to do this in a CL, to ensure that if it isn't active it is turned
on, but if its active I really do not want to stop it either......

If, by "printer" you mean "writer," and if by "active" you mean "started,"
then one way for a CL program to determine if it's active, would be to do
something like:
CHGWTR &mywtr
MONMSG CPF0000 exec(DO) /* Not active */
STRPRTWTR ...
ENDDO

Does that help at all?
