Test your switches frequently - we test ours every other month and run for
a weekend on the backup box. Test all keyed software during that time.

Some vendors are concerned that you might use the backup machine as a
query machine. Hey, you have the data replicated and why not take the
load off of the primary? For some reason those vendors feel that they
should get more money for that if you do.
