Mark;

I think when IBM says Tomcat is not supported, they are talking about the Tomcat server in Websphere, which was discontinued in 6.1.

We are running various versions of the standard Tomcat server on 6.1, in production, for about a year now and we have had no issues related to Tomcat and 6.1 incompatibilities.

Your war file contents are built/compiled to run on a Tomcat server. You would have to rebuild the application for the appropriate Websphere server and repackage the war file.

Subject: WAR File fails

All,

Here is the situation. We have a J2EE application currently running on the I, on Tomcat 5.5.15 at V5R4.

Now we've upgraded our development system to V6R1. I see that tomcat isn't supported, however for giggles, I installed and got Tomcat running. I deployed the application fine and it's running fine, however, some of the powers that be, aren't comfortable with running Tomcat on the I when all mighty IBM says it's not supported. Me, I'm in the camp that if it's not broke, don't fix it. But, oh well.

So, I tried to deploy the app on the Managed Integrated Web Application Server. When I try to deploy the app, it tells me that the WAR file is not valid.

So, I can deploy on Tomcat, but not on IWA. Is there any way to tell what's wrong with the WAR file? And, do any of you more seasoned iSeries guys see a problem with running Tomcat on the I at V6R1?

Thanks,

Mark.
