I'd go with Scot's suggestion.

However if for any reason you can't then give me a shout.

I rewrote the existing java Zip classes to support AES encryption. But
haven't implemented decryption in the classes.

Most of the cryptography is done using code from the open source
bouncycastle apis.

The code was also POC, it works but it hasn't undergone any rigourus
testing.

We use 7-zip on Windows and it's always irked me to file transfer to the
PC to zip things. I'd love to keep it all on the i box. Never thought
about it being open source.

Thanks for the tip Scott.

Would 7-zip work for you? It's open source, and provides 256-bit AES
encryption support.

I managed to get it to work under IBM i (tested on V5R4) in PASE.
Details of that can be found here:

I haven't used it in production, however, just in some proof-of-concept

things, and it seemed to work. I don't know if it's suitable for your

purposes, but might be worth looking at.

Arg! I keep running into that SPENDMONEY command. I need to take

The banks I am sending to do not have any encrypting commercial
software
and do not want to purchase any. They are using Windows XP as their
desktop.

My boss does not want to have our iSeries reach out to some windows
server to do the packaging and encryption. Even though I found a
command line utility that you can extract with XP with a pass
phrase.
(You do not know if it completes successfully on the iSeries with
the
run remote command.) We are creating the IFS files with our iSeries
and
want the whole job under iSeries control. I can take the IFS
directory
and ZIP it already but the encryption part keeps coming up with dead
or
expensive ends.

Anyone what to share their solution?
