In case it hasn't been made very clear yet it is *NOT* supported to have

Images on one sytem and catalogs on another EXCEPT in 6.1 with some
special configuration.

QFileSvr.400
QNTC,
NFS , are NOT supported file systems for Image Catalog images. I know
this because I got lauged at for opening three separate problems with it

not working there. Now it's documened NOT to work. :-(

For 6.1 to 6.1 only you can create a special Virtual Optical drive that
points to NFS on the target system. This special drive utilizes the
service tools interface. This way the virtual optical is on many
partitions but the images on just one. I'm hoping virtual tape will
support this eventually as well.

Not:

FROMFILE('/QFileSvr.400/LPAR2/imgclg/virttape/gen001')
TOFILE(*FROMFILE)

Your method puts a copy on both systems. He didn't want to eat up the
disk space.
Not only that, but QFileSvr.400 is limited in size. I found that out
when

I tried to use your command to move the DVD sizes of the 6.1 install
media. I had to ftp them. Once I did that then loading them into image

catalogs was no problem.

He was hoping to have an image catalog on one system, but the stream
file
on another.
