SQL Syntax to i5/OS record-level access (roughly):
Table = file
Schema = library
Index = logical file
Column = field
Partition = member *** only if defined as partitioned in DB2, otherwise
use CREATE ALIAS to reference data stored in members

When you start using SQL on i5/OS you will see these more often.

There is specific Oracle terminology (which I don't know since I don't
use Oracle) but the above are general SQL terms.

Loyd

Subject: Oracle in system i termonology

HI I was wondering if there is someone in the group who knows both
system i and Oracle and could then explain the basiscs to me in system i
terms of the Oracle setup. I am not sure for example what is meant by
indices or is this like a Logical file.

TIA,Adam
