CREATE ALIAS myalias FOR mylib/mysrcfile (mypgm)

<<SNIP>> not sure what Date related data structures are.

Any ideas on how to Create utility program to extract the I-spec of all RPG programs in a source physical file to identify the Date
related data structures? What steps would be needed to do this?

FWiW [only re using SQL]: Since the SQL CREATE ALIAS creates an object, it is a poor choice for processing all members [even just one member] of a source physical file; i.e. a new object is created [and probably since the ALIAS is not desired to remain permanently, it would then be DROPped immediately thereafter]. Better to perform a runtime override which redirects the open using nothing more than an entry in an effective [always present] queue associated with the job. That is, use OVRDBF MYALIAS TOFILE(MYLIB/MYSRCFILE) MBR(&MLNAME) prior to each SQL request to SELECT ColumnList FROM MYALIAS, issued for each &MLNAME, where &MLNAME could come from a DSPFD MYLIB/MYSRCFILE *MBRLIST OUTPUT(*OUTFILE).
