Thanks for the idea, but I still have an issue, I think.

using 'ls some-directory > /qsys.lib/yourlib.lib/thefile.file/thefile.mbr'

I do not know thename of the objext links in "some directory" and therefore

do not have the values for thefile.mbr.

Or am I missing something?

Thanks,

- Dan

Even better, I would suggest using Vern's response in a different thread.

Quoting Vern Hamberg:
To get a list, I often either create a PF with CRTPF and RCDLEN(256) or
so - then use redirection of the ls command in QShell

ls some-directory > /qsys.lib/yourlib.lib/thefile.file/thefile.mbr

If you use 2 arrows, it appends. You can also point to a non-library
file, and it will create it for you - won't create a PF, however, so you
have to pre-create.

Dan,

I detest using
<your ibm command here> OUTPUT(*PRINT)
CPYSPLF FILE(QPRINT) TOFILE(MYLIB/MYPF) SPLNBR(*LAST)

Been burnt too often in the past by
IBM changing the format of their spool files with a release upgrade or
ptf.
Or, by the above and having to support multiple machines running
different
levels of the OS.
Or, by using the technique in a never ending job and exceeding the
maximum
number of spool files.

DSPLNK had no *OUTFILE parm, but I printed and used CPYSPLF.

Thanks, another success in the books!

DSPLNK will let you send the list to an output queue.

There is no way, I'm aware of at least, to do this. You would have to
write
a program that would list all files in an IFS directory. It's not
really a
hard thing to do though.

Scott Klement has a great IFS tutorial on his site. Somewhere I have
an old
program that will list the files in the IFS directory too. If I can
find it
I'm more than happy to share.

From my earlier post, get all of the following into a single dB
file?

Object link
JW085674.NOTNS
JW090894.NOTNS
JW120450.NOTNS
JW133381.NOTNS
JW174394.NOTNS
JW215748.NOTNS
JW225926.NOTNS
JW251780.NOTNS
JW252776.NOTNS

I tried using wild cards, but got these messages:

File system error occurred. Error number 3025.

and

File system error occurred. Error number 3021.

Thanks.
