For the record, I've been using SQL since about 1987. I also use SQL in the majority of my RPG applications, in addition to record-level I/O. I also create quite a few SQL views and use them in applications. And I can't argue against learning SQL. Learning HTML and JavaScript carried more weight, for me, however.

I still prefer DDS over SQL DDL for most table definitions. And I think that Tommy Holden's CL command to generate SQL DDL is appropriate and helpful in those cases where it makes more sense to create tables from SQL DDL.

I guess I'm not a purist. Please don't hate me ;-)
