Is it possible to trim leading and/or trailing blanks from strings in CLP or CLLE programs?

Trimming leading blanks requires a little programming; however, the programming can be as simple as binding to the sscanf() API in the QC2LE binding directory and calling it with a format string of:

' %s'

Along the same lines, I find it handy to have an RPG *SRVPGM that has some functions for handling character field manipulation. For this case, a procedure that just uses the %trim() BIF should work nicely.

Another function I've found handy is a one that converts a character field to a varying character field (mostly for calling other RPG subprocedures).
