COMMON has already had a scattering of Linux sessions (which I found interesting) or sessions that recommended Linux. I don't recall any AIX sessions, but they're pretty similar, aren't they, since both are offshoots of Unix?

I bought Ted Holt's book on QShell recently because...well, I thought it would be a good thing to know. The System i isn't a /36 (which I adored) with a closed system. Unlike the old days when one could come pretty darn close to knowing everything there was to know about a system, that isn't true any more.

Ergo, I think that COMMON is serving the membership positively by making this part of the conference. I don't know how they plan to implement it, but my guess is there will be some tweaking along the way to iron out some of the anomalies or just to improve it. I would, also, look forward to COMMON adding some AIX, Linux, and such topics to their webcasts.

Thanks.

Well, now that the press is talking about it publicly I feel safe to ask a
few questions.

It would appear that COMMON now wants to be your AIX users group as well as
the traditional iSeries(or whatever).

What do you guys think of this move?
