I dont see the point of AIX .... at least IBM's approach to it. Is
AIX better than LINUX? If not, why use it ? If it is, IBM seems
reluctant to press ahead with more improvements and promote the
product.

AIX skills are needed to use IBM i. So, sure, COMMON should include
it. Would be great if CL, commands, ILE, joblogs and the IBM i call
stack were ported to AIX. That would make for interesting sessions at
the user group meetings.

Had they had more support from SHARE and SB, they may have made a go of
it...but they're history now and there's really no per se AIX UG.

IBM's trying to do a AIX UG organizational structure similar to how they did
Websphere...it's kinda hit and miss so far. I think Susan put together a
web page to help organize that before she moved but it's not gotten a lot of
press and I'm not sure it's got it's feet in the ground yet, but it's a good
start.

I could not care less. Doesn't AIX already have a user group?

Well, now that the press is talking about it publicly I feel safe to ask a
few questions.

It would appear that COMMON now wants to be your AIX users group as well
as
the traditional iSeries(or whatever).

What do you guys think of this move?
