Yeah, I was going to add that "it sounds like a dumb question, but...", however, I was closing up for the day and had to skedaddle. The only reason that it raised a question in my mind was that I am targeting my function prior to any of the subsystems starting. I remembered from a COMMON session many moons ago that "QTEMP" is really named something else under the covers for each QTEMP.

I figured that the mechanism for this process was loaded as part of the base operating system, rather than as part of a subsystem or prestart job. I, also, figured that I could just put in a simple test program and see what happened.

Out of a little more than idle curiosity, is QTEMP available during IPL? I
want to put a function in our IPL startup procedure, and I would prefer
creating the files and user spaces in QTEMP so that I didn't have to
bother with even thinking about whether or not they already existed.
