Hi all -

We are in dire need of additional main storage for our 9406-550-7154.
We'll need 4 #4477 - 8 GB DDR2 Main Storage (2 x 4 GB DIMMs: 533 MHz
sdram CCIN 313E) at a list price of $9,900 a set.

We also will be upgrading this system next year, probably to a 550
Express, 8402-E8A. Our BP is telling us that the #4477 memory will not
work in that box; it will all need to be replaced with something
described as 5694 0/8GB DDR2 Memory (4X2GB) DIMMS- 667 MHz- POWER6 CUoD
Memory x 8.

Naturally we hate the idea of spending $40K on memory we'll have to
throw away in six months, what are our options?

Now I see this: http://www.memoryx.net/systemp6550.html

Channeling Steve, does IBM really charge 20 times the price for System i
memory as for System p memory?
