Thanks Pete - was not sure of the underpinnings

Vern,

I don't think changing the subject is a problem. It can actually help to clarify the subject from time to time (as I have just done). I think what David says NOT to do is to take an existing thread and then change the subject as though creating a NEW thread. But, since all the threads are internally tracked with a number, changing the subject *to clarify* the subject matter as it evolves shouldn't be an issue unless you are starting a new thread. Then, a new post, rather than just hijacking an existing thread, would be the correct way to go. Changing the subject back to the original subject on a digest post seems a "humane" thing to do for us who have to scratch our heads as digest subject come through, wondering "what does that subject mean?"

If I am wrong on this I am sure that David will let me know.....

Pete

Which message got the kool response?

A gentle suggestion - clear out all messages from digests except the one you are answering.

I can't speak to what to put in the subject, as we have seen and been told not to change it - messes up threads - but what thread is a digest in?
