RE: Merging 2 files' DDS to create a third NEW DDS

OK this is the goal:

I have hundreds of journal entries in a database. Usually, the first
dozen of fields in the record layout are journal-entry related and the
last field contains all the data structure that the transaction for that
file deals about.

I want to be able to read the data nicely but I can't read it as it is...
unless I move the content of that last field the right DDS layout where I
can identify the fields. I have done that in the past but I have had to
be forced to do RPG programs to read from the output file and then write
to a third file which has the journal-related data plus the exact DDS of
the file being journaled so I can read the transactions. I do not want to
create an RPG program for this because my goal is to have this process
setup to handle any journaled file we may have and I do not have plans to
build one program per file.

Having said that, is my goal to have the journal data at the first part of
the record layout and the detailed fields laid out with the corresponding
content at the end of the record layout. I thought about a way to
dynamically build a DDS with the combination of the 2 conditions and
handle everything in one CLP.

Excuse my English (my second language) and syntax while describing this
but I hope you can get a better picture of what I am looking for.
