Don,

The mac groups I have encountered are struggling to get members to meetings.
I have had specific experience with 2 that used to be large and are no
longer. I have even encountered other non-computer weenie groups who have
been on the down slope over the last few years.

A couple of my mac friends say mac groups in larger cities tend to be
growing - they mention DC and CA specifically. And online groups are
growing.

So, while most people see a downturn in in-person groups, you see an
increase. Quite strange, really. Are your doctors worried about you smiling?

Oh, Trevor, I AM smiling... :)

It's interesting how Oracle, Mac, Windows, Perl, Palm....etc... user groups
are thriving and yes, even growing... Could it be that people actually KNOW
what Oracle is? What a Mac is? They've heard of Windows because it's the
only thing they had to work with since Kindergarten? ETC???

Yes, the internet is part of the equation, but only a part...and I agree,
humans were designed as social animals and social interaction is inherent in
their design...

Ah, the leaves are turning in the smokies and things are starting to look
nice for fall... :)
