The file is journalled & we are using V5R4 Client Access.

If this should work with this, maybe I should make sure that we are at
the most recent service pack level of CA.

I second that, check to see if the file is journaled.

Also, what versino of CA are you using? I seem to recall that
distributed transactino support was new in v5r4.

You should be able to get your hands on and use CA v5r4 with older
versions of the OS.
