Thanks to all who replied.

If someone has created a table with column names longer than 10 characters, and did not specify that short name, DB2 automatically generates a short name like "CUSTO00001" ... :-o

I cannot see any way to change those short names, once they are generated, e.g. via ALTER TABLE.

Does anyone know if this is possible, or do I just have to create a new table (with CREATE TABLE) and then copy the data over to it?

Thanks.
