For example, on an order line file. If you set up RI on the order line to
the item master, and you don't use nulls, then you have to have dummy item
numbers out there for "special charge" and all that rot. However, if you
define a null on the item number then you're fine.
Seems to be a management fad right now to reduce the number of items in
the item file.

But probably most of the anti null crowd wouldn't touch RI to save their
souls.
