Re: sql insert data match error

need help,
my brain.. ###########
my brain on fridays...&%&$())#*#&!!!
cannot resolve this insert error,
(loading a file from HR master)
its always the simple one's that stomp on you...LOL

ps..I checked the midrange archives, but the responses
there only dealt with a conversion of the CCSID,
not file data fields.

PF (FILE1) dds
A lastname 17A
A yrsworked 3S 0

PF (HRMAST) dds
A LASTNAM 20A
A YRSSERVC 3P 1

intention,
to merely extract years worked as a
whole integer into another file.

sql:

INSERT INTO FILE1
SELECT
SUBSTR(LASTNAM,1,17),
CASE WHEN YRSSERVC > 0.99
THEN DEC(YRSSERVC,3,0)
ELSE DEC(0,3,0) END

messages:
