parameter style general for service program procedure calls.

Elvis, Charles - redefining the function with VARCHAR instead of CHAR
worked. I'm no longer getting the "Routine B in GPKLIB not found with
specified parameters" error message and I can see by running the job in
debug and looking at the joblog that the sql in the procedure is
executing and returning the value.

Peter - you are correct. I wasn't aware of those parameters at all. I
will review them in the redbook and insert them in my code since this
will be the starting point (ie a template) for future use of UDF's in
our shop.
