While I agree with you on the i's stability, that's not what most of the IT world want's; evidence their actions. They want something that is cheap, has an education and labor system ready to supply the workers they need at a cheap price and fits in with where the majority of the IT/business world has been and is going. If the world saw the IBM i as the way, the truth and the light as most folks on here think it is, its overall market share would be MUCH higher than it is, going even higher and EVERYONE would be talking about its reliability (which I agree with BTW) and making it the platform/OS to watch. But, the reality is... that's not what has been, is and is going to be, as long as the status quo remains in the IBM i world (IBM and its proponents). Again, I wish that quality meant something in the US and the world, but, with rare exceptions, it doesn't.
