Saw a brief demo of this support at ZendCon Brian. IBM would not make any formal statements on availability except to note that it is currently in beta. I suspect there will be a formal announcement some time this month. I hope so because I'd love to demo it when I speak on PHP at the RPG and DB2 Summit this month or at DevCon the following week.

Demo was pretty cool. MySQL table being updated and at the same time DFU adding/modifying records in DB2 table that was being used as the storage. Updates from either side reflected in the other.

I'm not sure what you mean by "human" interface.
