I think the issue is new sales and competitive replacements. Of
course, cost of ownership and reliability and lack of need for
services and all that are hallmarks of the System i. Greatest business
computing system ever made. People that know it love it. But...do
these things drive sales?

I will say this..

can your business survive an ad hoc,
spur of the moment, disaster recovery plan
that will require you to convert to an entire
new platform, software, database, etc...??

ie.. can you go down for 3 weeks while you
completely re-engineer your IT operations,
and still conduct business without going out of business?

if you can, then by all means, save the money..
I know one operation still running IBM dos/vse/iccf .. yikes!!

they also have 60% of their staff within 5 years
of retirement age!!!!! LOL
