Hello,

The question boils down to: "Do your PHP coders know how to connect to any database and do a stored procedure call, or, is the extent of their web development limited to "flaming logos" (to borrow from an old IBM tv ad)"?

Even if they only know how to do a "flaming logo", wouldn't it be easy enough to tell them to look it up in the manual?

There's an example of a stored procedure call with an output parameter in the PHP manual at the following link:
http://us2.php.net/manual/en/function.db2-execute.php

It seems silly to me to expect your developers to know EVERYTHING... and if there's something they don't know, it seems silly to avoid that thing just because the developers would have to look it up. If something is useful, use it. If they need to learn something, so much the better -- they'll now be a greater asset for the future.
