I would like to add the following to an existing user written command:
Members . . . . . . . . : *SELECT Name, *SELECT
The suggestion/guidance that I am looking for, is were in the command,
validity checking program, CPP(command processing program) should this
program be "put". Any examples whould be greatly appreciated.
You have two alternative here:
1) Define *SELECT as a valid value for your member name keyword, e.g.
SPCVAL((*SELECT)), then have the CPP test for that value and call an
interactive program to do what you want. The command prompting isn't really
involved in this case, and the selection won't happen until the CPP runs.
This means for example you can't prompt it within something like a SBMJOB
(where you press F4 to create the command to get submitted).
2) Create a command "choice program". This isn't exactly what you are
looking for, but is as close as the command prompter supports. Search the
archives for "choice program" or CHOICE(*PGM) or CHOICEPGM. This link may
