Backup does not change the use date.
Also, last use date not changed if the file is not opened - like
in a chkobj

Subject: Date Last Used

Greetings from sunny Florida.

I am researching to determine if a set of files are being used. If they are not being used, we can deactivate a program which populates these files during a weekend run and can save six hours of processing time. Most of the function of these files have been replaced by other programs populating other files in the data warehouse.

While doing a WRKOBJ, option 8, I can see that my file has a last used date of today. Is this my absolute indicator that this file was used today? Would a backup of this file cause the last used date to change? I have several files in this set which have no last used date at all.

Change/Usage information:
Change date/time . . . . . . . . . : 10/25/03 21:16:10
Usage data collected . . . . . . . : YES
Last used date . . . . . . . . . . : 09/22/08
Days used count . . . . . . . . . : 514

Thanks,
