Well one other option to try is to install the PTFS again.

Since you said that some of them were not found, it makes me wonder.

If there is nothing to install, it won't take much time.

Many thanks, I have now found it and INZSYS did complete successfully.
Before I call IBM, I want to be sure that I have the PTFs sorted out.
As I
purchased this machine cheaply, I don't have a support contract for it
with
IBM. Do I need this?

Rob,

In the GO LICPGM, option 50, go back to when you installed the OS.
Start looking forward from there. There should be a line that says
something like "(INZSYS) Initialization of system is complete."

If it is, and you have verified all the PTFS are installed, I would be
on the phone with IBM.
If its not there, I would still be on the phone with IBM and asking if
that's the cause of your problem.

You have reached the limit of my problem analysis!

Sharon

I can imagine that INZSYS means Initialise System but I am not sure
how
I
find the answer to your question from the log.

What should I do?

many thanks

The last thing that comes to mind, is did the INZSYS complete?

You can find that in the GO LICPGM, option 50.

How many times have you IPL'd? During a release install with
cums,
there are at least three if I remember V5R3 correctly.

I would guess three but I am not sure so have just started another
one
(manual)

Many thanks

Rob
