Elvis,

That doesn't appear to work.

The command won't compile. I've seen two different errors depending
on what I try. CPD0271 - Special value not valid or CPD0257 - value
not a valid date.

CPD0257 is merely an information message. It is common for special
values not be valid within the data type of the parameter; I wonder why
the compiler picks on *DATE for special treatment.

Anyway, at V5R2M0, I get away, albeit with compiler warnings, with this
command definition ...

cmd 'play with date parameters'
parm thing *date spcval((*current 999999))

and this processing program

pgm (&thing)

dcl &thing *char 7

sndpgmmsg msgid(cpf9898) msgf(qcpfmsg) msgtype(*comp) +
msgdta('You told me >>' || &thing || '<<')

endpgm

Cheers,
Terry.

I'm having the same problem on a time parameter, but with that one
I've only ever seen CPD0271.

Perhaps SPCVAL((*CURRENT 999999)) and then handle 999999 as a special value
in the command processing program?

Subject: Create command with Date parameter that allows *CURRENT special
value

All,

I know I've done this before, but I don't recall how nor can I find
anything on the net.

How do I need to define the SPCVAL((*CURRENT)) for a date parameter on
a command?

Thanks!
Charles
