RE: Dumb Things People Do

OK, I wasn't going to say anything, but now I'll pipe in.

Many years ago as a consultant, I was perusing the *SRVPGM objects
listed in QSYS. Dumb, I know. I don't even remember now what I was
looking for, other than an IBM provided routine. I was scrolling along,
entering 5 and pressing enter a couple of times to get to the list of
modules. I worked up a rhythm doing this, keying 5 and pressing enter,
when of course I accidentally keyed 4 and ended up deleting a service
program in QSYS before I even realized that the delete confirmation
screen had been shown. My heart dropped and I was immediately very upset
with myself.

But, I'm thinking, no big deal, I'll just do a restore from backup...
Well, the restore command used that service program. And, also that
service program was being used by the compile commands, so all of the
other programmers found out that I had done something bad. Not good.

Needless to say, it was the stupidest thing I've ever done in my career.
Eventually one of the other consultants figured out how to fix it. To
this day he still hasn't told me what he did. I think he's still
ticked!

What if one made the same mistake when trying to type 'SLTCMD RST*' to
see all the restore commands.

Think about that one for a moment.
