Would something similar to this work?

Select ASJD#, ASJAB1 AS ASJAB from Myfile
union
Select ASJD#, ASJAB2 AS ASJAB from Myfile
union
Select ASJD#, ASJAB3 AS ASJAB from Myfile
union
Select ASJD#, ASJAB4 AS ASJAB from Myfile
union
Select ASJD#, ASJAB5 AS ASJAB from Myfile
union
Select ASJD#, ASJAB6 AS ASJAB from Myfile
union
Select ASJD#, ASJAB7 AS ASJAB from Myfile
union
Select ASJD#, ASJAB8 AS ASJAB from Myfile

You could also add in another column to identify the column:

Select ASJD#, ASJAB1 AS ASJAB, 1 as MyColumn from Myfile
union
Select ASJD#, ASJAB2 AS ASJAB, 2 as MyColumn from Myfile
.... and so on

Just put that all into a view then you can do your normal SQL statements
against the view.
