This whole thing cracks me up the more I read of it.

Ok so someone wants to try out a 5250 emulator on an iPhone. Big deal.
Who cares.

They're not less of a forward thinking i person because of it. It's a
choice, it's a discovery process, let it be. It has nothing to do with
the age of the person involved or how long they've been on the platform
or coddling those old timers who refuse to use the web. That isn't what
this is about.

Nor should this be yet another roundabout way to talk about why there
isn't more exposure for i or that this is the reason things aren't where
we want them to be. It's deeper than whether folks use a 5250 screen or
iNav to admin a system.

In fact to me the GUI deal is more about applications that are presented
to the user base than how admins do what they do.

The market will figure things out. If the emulators suck and they aren't
worth using, then folks won't use them. Heck I saw one on a Blackberry
too. You couldn't read much of it but man it was there.

I don't understand why this has to be a black & white issue. Web browser
access is fine, Director Navigator is fine, 5250 is fine. Do what you
want. No one else really has any business slamming anyone else by what
type of interface they use.
