I agree that some of these fees are ridiculous. However what is the fee
for? If they dropped maintenance, and now want a key to run on the new
machine, then I say "Shame on the customer". That's normally a standard
clause in any maintenance contract. Anyone who drops maintenance had
better have a plan to replace the software, or be making a conscientious
business decision to sacrifice short term maintenance costs for a big
charge to get upgrade. While I think it's silly to do so they may have
been in a real cash flow bind.

If, however, they are current on maintenance and the vendor wants a huge
fee just to transfer hardware (same tier) then I say "Shame on the
vendor". This nefarious practice is more common in the EDI realm.

Not really sure what Infor's policy is - that is someone else's cheese
here.
