RE: Cume, Group

Roger/Joe,

That's the order that I have always used, too. Except someone (not sure if my memory is working today so don't want to name names and be in error, but someone I trust and respect) once told me to load:
Group(s)
Hiper
Cume

Not that it mattered tactically, but that the Cume's were usually the older. Thus, if there were any superseding PTF's in the Group(s) or Hiper, the installer knows that, when it gets to the Cume to bypass the "obsolete" PTF's. Either way works, I was told; just saves a little time. How does it know in either case? Beats the heck out of me; just thank Carole Egan.

Personally, I always do these on a weekend and bring a good book to read (boy, I love image catalogues).

I've always done them in this order - not that I'm an authority on this
but an IBM'r once confirmed that this was the logical way. I once saw
specific instructions in a PTF package that specified a different order
but that was only once.

Cume
Groups
Hipers

My logic is that, in most cases, this is the chronological order the
PTF's were issued. I also IPL between each set to apply as I go.

For once and for all I want to understand in my mind which you do first
and why: cume or group? I ordered groups and cumes, and I want to know
which to do first, and what's the reasoning.
