FTP knows nothing about records - that is a database concept. FTP is about moving stream files - so byte count is the way to go.

I've used various pc tools, the native dos ftp in windows, unix and iSeries
and don't ever remember "records" count.
How would you count a .jpg file or .htm?

Subject: ftp parameter question

when FTP'ng from a command line,
or any where else for that matter..
it always states the "byte" size of the
file on completion, I've been reading, but
can't find any way to tell it to give you a
"record" count instead of "byte" size

is this possible? or have I just entered
the "I-zone" lol
