Ok,

I cringe at doing this but, it IS an alternative.

PowerTech's Network Security product has a feature called Generic Exit
Point. This feature provides you the capability to use all the features
available in Network Security within your own programs.

It is pretty simple to use.

You could use CGI and the QSYSGETPH API to validate the profile and
password.

That works pretty well.

D VldProfile PR ExtPgm('QSYGETPH')
D UserID 10A const
D Password 10A const
D Handle 12A
D ErrorCode 32766A options(*varsize: *nopass)

Subject: web application validate users against iSeries

I have a need to have a web application to validate users from the
iSeries. Has anyone attempted this if so how?

Example: Web application requires a sign on. All of the users have
profiles on the iSeries. Therefore we would like to have them use their
iSeries profiles to validate against the iSeries. Eliminating the need
to keep a DB with users in it, that the web application validates
against.

We have two web applications one will not need to access any data from
the iSeries, the other will.
