You're stuck.
There are api's in Infocenter to search for stuff, like "Open list of
Objects" or "List Objects".
There's the alternatives you already mentioned like DSPOBJD and RTVDSKINF.
The database cross reference files aren't going to contain save files.
Those are concerned mainly with
PF's aka Tables
LF's aka Indexes or Views
Partitions aka Members
stored procedures, user defined functions, etc.
