If the remote Printer has a static IP or registered in DNS somewhere,
you can configure IPP. (Internet Printing Protocol).

We have a similar situation, we recently set up the SSL. I think the
only reason to use the vpn is that we have some remote printers
configured as local, and the vpn hides that from the AS/400.
