Subject: Re: Retrieve iSeries data in Excel (how to use add-in)

first- open a blank excel document and go
to the tools menu and select add-ins.
place a check mark on "iSeries data transfer"

second- go to your Data drop down menu and make
sure you have the menu items
Transfer data to ... iseries
Transfer data from.. iseries
The whole process is menu prompted for
odbc type, I P addr, lib names, etc, and when you
run it, it will ask for your 400 user name and pswd,
the add in defaults its security protocol to your
as400 so that not just anyone could open excel
and access your 400.. note: do NOT click the box
"remember my password"... :) LOL if you do,
anyone could use excel on your workstation to get
data from the 400 and you would get the
uuuhhmmmm... recognition for it..!!!

If you don't have this in your excel software already,
email me directly and I'll find my notes on installing
add-ins.. its not difficult, its just another excel
upgrade install, but I've been doing this for over 2 years
and I would have to look for my file notes on where
I got the addin from.

HTH..Aaron
