When you establish the VPN connection are you given a DNS server entry?
If so, does the company you are connecting to have their servers in DNS?
I do not like host tables as people change their IP and will not tell
you. They rarely change the host name. If they are maintaining their
DNS properly and supplying DNS to VPN users, you are set.

Is there a way, in Client Access, to tie an IP number to a name?

Two things comes in mind,

First, you can add a description to every host and that one can
be seen in iSeries Navigator.
I am normally working with a large number of customers and I
also
try to create a unique Client Access environment for each customer
to
make it easier to manage all hosts.

Second, you can use a host file to combine ipaddresses and
hostnames. It WILL bite you in the end so the first one is better as I
see
it.
