Adam,

Nope, there's only one kind of journal.

All the updates are done by a single program?

You've got the COMMIT keyword specified on all the F-specs?

Commit/Rollback being done in the program that does the updating?

Assuming the answer to all the above is YES. Then, what you describe is puzzling...

Try using the DSPJRN command to look at the journal entries. Look for the updates for a file that is
being rolled back and one that isn't. Take a look at the details. In particular, do they have the
same commit cycle ID?

Subject: Commitment control / jounalling

I've got a problem that seems to be a perfect fit for commitment
control. The problem program is meant to update a bunch of resources
that are involved in an action. If one of the resources is locked by
another job, the update is half completed and we get a phone call to fix
the problem.

I read through Paul Conte's excellent article here:
http://systeminetwork.com/article/matter-integrity-practical-guide-
database-transactions
(http://tinyurl.com/5yz4ln), as well as skimming the related InfoCentre
articles. As I understand it, files must be journalled to participate
in commitment control (except for the special case of Soft Commit in
V5R4+).

I've added some code to the program to perform a COMMIT or ROLBK as
necessary, but only some of my changes get rolled back. The files that
don't get rolled back say they are journaled on the DSPFD output. The
journal that they show is part of our HA software.

Does commitment control require a specific type of journal?
