Joe,
Geesh, I hope not. It's 'my' library. I should be the owner of everything and probably most everything done recently in the dev libraries. But, I will check -> I am the creator and the owner is 'APP' which is the owner for everything. Doesn't seem to be the issue.

I wasn't sure why this [DLTF TRSFDD/IMPACT] was suggested. It is supposed to be the alias, but I did it anyway.

In fact, I cannot use any of the SQL statements I used to run from a menu I created a year or two ago. I thought that I had botched the update one that I reuse, but that's apparently not the case since an insert one I have set up will not work, now, either. I haven't used that one in quite some time.

Since I've been here (5 years next month) I have only used the three SQL source members because we cannot do anything but run from source and no one here even knew we could do that.

Now, I can't even do that.

So, depressing...I have this project I MUST get done and testing is a pain because I have to keep resetting some fields....I CAN use WRKDBF to manually change every darn record. Yuk.

I sure was hoping it would 'fix itself' over my 3 day weekend. Not.
No changes on this [development] machine...no PTF...nothing.
Thanks

I know this is a silly question, Frances, but could it be an authority issue? Is there actually an object IMPACTB in >library TRSFDD, and when you're executing the SQL ( http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l/200805/msg00561.html# ) you just don't have the authority to either the library or the >object?

I had a sql stmt that ran just fine until this afternoon. It worked

Found something about RCLSTG - not something I'll be doing or asking
OPS. I tried using a different alias. Didn't work.

How do you even view a list of aliases for a file? We don't have a
SQL - cannot STRSQL, but can RUNSQLSTM using a source file.

Spent a couple of hours trying to track this down. Your help would
be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Fran

RUNSQLSTM SRCFILE(TRSFDD/SQLSRC) SRCMBR(UPDATEIMP) COMMIT(*NONE)
Alternative name for file IMPACT not allowed.
File IMPACT not created in library TRSFDD.
IMPACT in TRSFDD type *FILE already exists.
RUNSQLSTM command failed. RUNSQLSTM command failed.

After the 'already exists' I tried this:

*************** Beginning of data ***************
--drop alias trsfdd/impact;
Create alias trsfdd/Impact FOR TRLIBDTA/TRIMPCP ;
UPDATE trsfdd/Impact set PCPROC = ' ';
