Make sure that the java install isn't corrupted ... I had a situation a few months ago at a customers site where, even though Java was shown to be installed on the System i, it had been totally screwed up by the system admin who thought they were 'improving' things.

In Qshell, run 'ls -l /bin/java'. IIRC, /bin/java should be a symlink to /QIBM/ProdData/OS400/Java400/jdk/bin/sys_java.

Also, do an 'echo $PATH' and make sure that /usr/bin is in your path.
