If there is proper F1 help, the default is indicated both in the descriptive material and as an underlined option. This does NOT change when you run CHGCMDDFT. It is NOT based on the command at the time you access the help.

Otherwise, you must resort to the vendor's manual and hope it is there.

Reading the InfoCentre note on CHGCMDDFT, it appears that this command
makes a change to the actual *CMD object (hence the suggestion to make
copies of system commands before changing them). Is this correct?

I ask because I would like to confirm what the setting was for a
particular vendor command before a recent upgrade to that vendor
software. If I can restore the *CMD object from tape to some other
library, it should be (relatively) simple to determine.

Any alternate strategies would also be much appreciated.
