Jim,

I would agree that everyone should run the ANZOBJCNV sooner than
later, and that this should be done at least 90 days before you think you
are going to upgrade to V6R1.

You used the words "Converting their programs to work with V6R1".
People shouldn't have to convert anything unless they were using unsupported
interfaces. I have taken a few systems to V6R1 already and once we got a
clean ANZOBJCNV at V5R4 (meaning everything had observable code or creation
data) there was nothing that we had to change in any program to get it to
work once we were on V6R1.

I would recommend that everyone start converting their programs to work
with V6R1 as soon as possible.

You may find out that you have quite a project in front of you.

It is best to know as soon as possible if you have any missing custom
code or code from software vendors.

This IS quite a project outside of just the V6R1 operating system
upgrade.

Thanks.

With V6R1 just around the corner, and software vendors that have
disappeared
along with their source code, some companies must be facing the issue of
code that won't migrate.

There used to be a company that provided a de-compiler for RPG and CLP
programs. Has anybody used them? Are they still around?

They were called Source Retrieval - don't think they are around any
more.
Their URL www.sourceretrieval.com is now used by someone else.
