Will the 170 accept non-IBM part number SCA drives?

My 170 has 4x8g drives and an empty expansion bay.
I'd like to throw a couple 73gig SCA drives in there.
The prices for IBM 170 drives are insane for the $/meg.

You can find used/reconditioned 6713 drives all over the place. Several List members have offered up used drives, and it was no trouble at all finding them on eBay last Friday evening.

The ones we went with were listed at $49 or best offer, as I recall, with a 90-day vendor warranty; we made an offer of $35 each for two of them (a replacement and a spare), and it was accepted.
